very very fast paced work environment. store management, sales promoting, hiring , coaching. monthly health safety meeting process and reporting to district manager. store clean and tidy work environment.
I loved the atmosphere as long as the store manager wasn’t there. She has no people skills and was very immature. She tells the associate to break merchandising rules then during iPad tours acts as if it wasn’t her that gave that direction. The rules don’t apply to her and she can leave out the back door with no bag check with the DM. Wouldn’t take any suggestions and everything had to be her way. The store would be way more successful if they had a manager that would admit that they are not always right. The DM is also very ignorant. I have never worked with a DM that doesn’t properly investigate a poor store manager because they have more of a friendship. Don’t bother putting in an anonymous complaint because the DM tells the store manager about it or she won’t answer your calls even though they claim to have an open door policy.
Weekly work hours expectations are far to high, you work a minimum of 50 a week summer and 60 in the winter. The staffing hours are far to low for the production expectations. No positive support, very negative environment. Work culture is not there, it’s do more every day with no thanks or positive feedback.
A manager works an average of 50-60 hours a week. There is always a lot of work to do and it makes 12 hour days seem like 8.
It is a process heavy job and the expectations are high. They do not support their stores well with enough payroll to execute everything asked and it can be challenging to keep ahead.
Routines are easy to establish, the work is fast paced
Long hours, not enough payroll support and expectations don’t align with reality
Wish I never had the opportunity to work for such a horrible company, the DMs all need to be fired. Head office should really look into why there is such a High number of staff turn overs. Would not recommend anyone to work for them ever.
Very fast paced environment , always work to be done.
I’ve learned that customer service is an asset, you can deal with the nicest customer to the most difficult. Hardest part of the job is keeping up with freight . Most enjoyable part of the job is meeting and exceeding customer needs.
Management is hands on deck at all times, you must be able to multi task, deliver without little or no supervision from your peers. Conduct and empower your employees and work ethics, lead the job and structure
Minimal hours given to get stuff done. Management team are simply glorified freight pushers. Hardly any positives are given to the store during a visit by the district and regional managers. A lot of working off the clock to make sure you don’t go over wages. No inventory system. End of season pack up for every holiday is a complete waste of time and resources. Worked with some really good people that made the day better. Seen some people work very hard with little to zero thanks or reward. Very little emphasis on workplace safety. Backroom conditions were sometimes unsafe due to all the freight and skids.
This company was great to be a part of while i was a student, however, there is not a lot of room for advancement. They also do not pay a fair salary across the board and there are some difficult tasks assigned during your shift, some hard to complete.
